Kicking off her struts within the industry by creating ceramic art works, Fauziah Yahaya or better known amongst her peers as Kak Gee continuously generate her ideas despite the lack of commision works received from the art lovers. This late 80’s situation was also acknowledged by many fine artists during that period of time as the public had not being taught on how to appreciate art. Soon, Kak Gee had no choice but to let go of her passion in ceramic art  as her health condition worsened due to the long, tedious process she had to go through.

 

That was not the last time the public heard from Kak Gee though as she moved on to channeling her artistic mind in the form of painting under Rafflesia Gallery, Komplek Kraf in 1999. She picked up a subject which speaks volume to the Malaysian crowd, animal motifs. Speaking of volume, modern batik painting has been seen as her favourite medium of communication as that is where her expertise lies on.

 

This self taught artist does not just merely envision animal figures such as turtles, lizards and cats on the canvas. She pushed the move by inserting subtle meanings behind the each creation which always touches the buyers once they get to know her works better. According to her, this initiative is taken as she needs to figure out her clients’ needs and motifs which are close to their hearts. 


Terlebih dahulu mengasah bakat dalam bidang seni halus seramik, Fauzih Yahaya atau lebih mesra dengan panggilan Kak Gee menggerakkan minatnya ini walaupun pada ketika itu, permintaan yang diterimanya hanya sekadar mencukupi sahaja. Situasi di hujung era 1980-an ini diakui sendiri oleh ramai rakan artis yang lain memandangkan permintaan daripada masyarakat Malaysia masih ditakuk yang perlahan. Tidak lama kemudian, Kak Gee terpaksa mengundurkan diri atas sebab kesihatan dan tidak mampu meneruskan proses pembuatan karya seramik yang panjang dan memenatkan.

 

Kariernya tidak terhenti di situ apabila Kak Gee beralih arah kepada penghasilan seni lukisan di bawah jenama Galeri Rafflesia, Kompleks Kraf pada tahun 1999. Kak Gee memilih subjek yang lebih mesra kepada para pemerhati iaitu motif binatang yang sinonim dengan Malaysia. Daripada segi teknik pula, batik moden dipilih sebagai medium perantaraan dalam kebanyakan daripada hasil seni Kak Gee kerana di situlah kemahirannya sebagai seorang artis

 

Artis ‘self taught’ ini bukan sekadar melakar wajah haiwan seperti kura-kura, cicak dan kucing semata-mata malah menyelitkan maksud tertentu di dalamnya seperti elemen kasih sayang dan kekuatan hati. Menurutnya, dia perlu mengambil inisiatif untuk memikirkan kehendak pembeli dan motif tersebut lebih dekat dengan hati mereka.
